A panel from the local LGBTQIA+ community who work in various professional positions will acquaint SHRM members with examples of employment-related discrimination they have encountered in their professional careers – both overt discrimination and implicit bias. They will describe how these episodes affected their job performance, loyalty, peer relationships, and morale. Further they will offer advice on how to make workplaces welcoming and inclusive for persons who are gender and sexually diverse.

Participants will learn to recognize biases and how unfair assumptions can impact morale and productivity when persons are made to feel that they do not fully belong in the organization. They will also learn specific techniques for recruiting, welcoming, accepting, and retaining high-performing LGBTQIA+ employees.

This meeting is pending approval for HRCI recertification credit and has been approved for SHRM recertification credit.
